I watch b-grade horror like this so you don’t have to
Stars: Jenna Kanell, Samantha Scaffidi, David Howard Thornton
Director: Damien Leone
I would love to have been there when this movie was pitched and they were like, hey clowns are scary lets do a killer clown because they always do so well and scare so many people. Also, we can’t make it like any of the others because ours needs to stand out and be unique….hmm I know, lots of gore! Like A LOT of gore like so much gore it’s ridiculous and over the top and oh just for fun we definitely need nudity at the most inappropriate moments. Yeah that will be our perfect movie.
Yes all of the above things do combine to make a horror movie but in this case it’s just honestly not even close to being a good one. Besides the terrible acting, or should I say the over-acting, everything was so predictable. I’m not talking where you knew the jump scares (or what tried to pass for a jump scare) was about to occur, I’m talking I could pick literally what was going to happen in the next scene. Oh and don’t even get me started on the bad stereotypical horror acts like running up the stairs instead of toward an exit or beating up the bad guy and then staying around yelling at them to “Come on! Get up! Come at me!” when honestly there was so much time to get out. It just made it laughable and not in a ‘it’s so bad it’s good’ kind of way. I guess I should have expected as much when the story itself just has no real point, except there is a killer clown on Halloween night and apparently the town they are in has no need of cabs and literally no one is out and about after what was apparently a big Halloween party night except the two main girls and an empty late night pizza place, because of course that’s realistic.default
Be warned, the movie is not for the squeamish, it is down right brutal at times. As in extreme violence, extreme blood, extreme gore and at times some really messed up and disturbing moments like a naked clown with the mask still on wearing someone else’s skin on his chest. Yes it was disturbing but it was in no way scary and unfortunately wasn’t able to redeem this movie. Now, before you go thinking I’m classing this as anything other than a B-Grade horror, I’m most definitely not. It’s obvious that it was made specifically to be ranked that way but even so, it’s still more of an ugh why did I sit through the whole thing kind of grade.
Look, for what it’s worth the movie does it’s job….I guess. But for now I think I’m going to go give it a thumbs down on my Netflix ranking and find something better to watch.
My Score: 2/10
Watch If You Like: B-Grade horror and don’t mind extreme violence and gore.
