Still really want a Toothless…
Stars: Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler
Director: Dean DeBlois
Synopsis: Berk is now a Dragon loving centre with everyone embracing the love and friendship of the dragons and living in a community together. Naturally Hiccup (Jar Baruchel) is still out there exploring and learning and trying to build a map of the whole world with his dragon companion Toothless. Along the way he discovers a mysterious Dragon Rider who lives in an ice cave sanctuary protecting hundreds of other dragons from an evil dragon catcher who is attempting to build a dragon army. Together they join forces to stop the war and save the dragons.
Opinion: This is one of those rare times where a sequel is almost as good as the original. The story is new and different, this time with the entire village of Berk out to save dragons instead of destroy, and there are some really fun new characters that are introduced as well. Like the first film too there are underlying morals and themes that are important to learn but not shoved in your face in a horrible way. Everything is extremely well written and most importantly enjoyable to watch. I also love that all of the dragons just have these great personalities that kind of mirror the humans they are paired with. Visually outstanding once again and the voice cast all returning with some new even bigger names coming on board (Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington) it makes for another fun ride in the dragon world of Berk.
Fun Times For All Involved: The interactions between Ruffnut (Kristen Wiig) and Eret (Kit Harington) are so hilarious with specific praise going to the animators of Eret for the amazing facial expressions he pulls during these scenes. It had me laughing way louder than I think my neighbours appreciate.
