Hands down, the best Spider-Man movie yet!
Stars: Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld
Directors: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey
Synopsis: Miles Morales is bitten by a…..you know the drill….and becomes the new Spider-Man. Feeling very alone and scared, he soon discovers that due to a short rift in the space time (science stuff) by an evil mastermind (naturally) other Spider-People have appeared from different realities into his one. Together, they must defeat the bad guys and save the universes.
Opinion: Disclaimer, I am one of those people who really likes the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, didn’t ever bother to watch those ‘Amazing’ ones and Homecoming, well yes it was fun, but it just never felt like it earned a great from me. So, when this movie was announced, I really couldn’t find it in me to get excited. It wasn’t until people started talking about how great it was that I finally watched the trailer and suddenly, there was regret. How had I not watched the trailer and realised how amazing it looked? How had I nearly let this movie pass me by because I ‘wasn’t a spider-man fan’? So finally…..FINALLY, I have had a chance to watch it and as you may have already guessed, IT IS AWESOME!! Literally right from the beginning it is fun, witty, smart and an overall brilliant journey. Not only is it visually incredible (those different animation styles mixing together is just WOW) but the soundtrack is so absolutely on point throughout. I was cheering, laughing and even managed an aww face here and there, the whole thing is a beautifully put together package that I want so badly to re-watch again straight away. Sorry Tobey, but Spider-Verse has kicked you off the leader board and is officially declared my all time favourite Spidey film. Well done Sony, you absolutely nailed it!
Fun Facts: There is an end credit scene, a Stan Lee (sob) cameo and a couple of fun references to some of those other Spider-Man – oh and the billboards in the city have fun things on them too…..Enjoy!
